Ms. Kelleghan’s Class
Welcome to Ms. Kelleghan’s Junior Infants!

Have a look at all the wonderful work we have done this year!
CHRISTMAS LANDSCAPES
Remember that paper-dying we did last week? Well Viola! We cut out triangles from the paper we dyed with crepe paper and water and stuck them onto our winter landscapes! Then we used gold and silver paint pens to decorate them as Christmas Trees!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

We’re very busy getting ready for Christmas here in Junior Infants! We decided to decorate our classroom in preparation for the birth of Jesus, by putting up a Christmas Tree and a Crib. Here we all are decorating the tree! We want to wish you all a very Happy Christmas & New Year! 🙂

PAPER DYING
We’re doing something a bit different for our Christmas Art – some of which involves dying paper! Here we are adding coloured crepe paper to a sheet of A4 white paper and wetting it. The water will make the colour run out of the crepe paper and onto the white sheet! When it dries, we will take the crepe paper off and have a sheet of lots of different pastel colours mixed together! I wonder what Christmas Art we will use them for? Stay tuned!

RICE KRISPIE BUNS
We were learning about heat in science and the effect it has on different materials! Do you know what happens when you heat chocolate? It melts and turns into a liquid! Then when it sets it turns back into a solid. To test this out we decided to make Rice Krispie buns! We applied heat to the chocolate by putting it into the microwave where it melted and changed from a solid into a liquid.

GREEN FINGERS!
We had fun helping Mr. Stenson in the Polytunnel! We buddied up with some of theolder children and helped them transport compost from the trailer into the different plots in the Polytunnel. Then we planted some onion bulbs in our plot! We can’t wait to watch them grow!

FABRIC & FIBRE “MINI- MES”

We had great fun making these “mini-mes” out of different fabrics and fibres. We invented an outfit for us out of all the different materials we had in the classroom! We looked at different patterns and texture in our outfits.

SELF PORTRAITS!

In September we were learning all about Myself and My Family. Here are some of the lovely self-portraits we did in Art

CHIP DAY!

Last year, Mr. Stenson and lots of the boys and girls sowed potatoes. Over the summer they grew and in September when we arrived, they were ready to harvest! We helped Mr. Stenson and the older classes harvest them from our Poly Tunnel. 4th, 5th & 6th class help wash and cut all the potatoes into chips! Then Mr. Stenson fried them up for us and we got to have a tasty treat! Here are some photos of us enjoying our chips, made from homegrown potatoes from our school’s very own Poly Tunnel
